The trail camera that stops asking for batteries
Every wildlife watcher knows the same frustration: you finally get the camera dialled in on the perfect spot, and six weeks later you're trudging back out there with a fistful of AAs. The Vantage Solaris was built to end that.
A solar roof sits on top, feeding two high-capacity internal lithium cells through a circuit engineered to sip power rather than gulp it. Set it up in a decent patch of daylight and it simply keeps running — season after season.
- Built-in solar roof — trickle-charges two internal lithium cells so the camera runs indefinitely in reasonable daylight
- True 4K video at 30fps, day and night, with audio
- Local WiFi + Bluetooth 5.0 — change settings and pull footage onto your phone from up to 30ft away, no ladder required
- No halo, no hotspot — 2 long-range power LEDs tuned for even, balanced infrared lighting
- IP66 weatherproof and rated from -20°C to 60°C
- Zero subscription — footage stays on your microSD card, not on someone else's server
Power that looks after itself
Two high-capacity internal lithium batteries do the heavy lifting; the solar roof keeps them topped up. From a flat 5% charge, expect a full recharge in roughly 7 to 14 days of normal daylight — and once it's full, it stays full.
If you're placing the camera somewhere genuinely gloomy, four AA cells drop in as backup so you're never caught out. There's a USB charging cable in the box for a mains top-up before deployment.
4K that actually looks like 4K
Video records at 3840 × 2160 at 30fps with sound, and steps down through 2K, 1296p, 1080p and 720p if you'd rather save card space. Stills come out at up to 46MP (9040 × 5072). Clips run up to 180 seconds.
The 89° f/1.6 lens pulls in a wide field of view without the fisheye distortion that ruins a lot of budget cameras — you get the animal and the context around it.
Night vision without the flare
Most cheap cameras blast a wall of infrared at whatever walks past and burn out the middle of the frame. The Solaris uses two focused long-range power LEDs, positioned and diffused so the light falls evenly across an 80ft throw. Low-glow, so you're not lighting a beacon in the dark.
Check it from your phone, not a ladder
The camera generates its own WiFi network — no router, no signal, no SIM needed. Get within about 25-30ft, connect from the app, and you can adjust settings, preview the live view, and download clips straight to your phone. Ideal when the camera is 15ft up a beech tree or across a river bank.
Who this camera is for
Buy the Solaris if you're monitoring a site that's a pain to reach, you're sick of battery costs, or you want the best video quality in our range. It's the right camera for long-term deployments, remote woodland, rewilding projects and anyone running multiple sites.
Look at the Vantage Scout Nova instead if you need true no-glow covert LEDs, or you want to spend less and don't mind swapping AAs.

Frequently asked questions
Do I really never have to change the batteries?
In a spot that gets reasonable daylight, yes — the solar roof keeps the internal lithium cells charged and the camera runs continuously. In deep evergreen cover or through a very dark winter you may want to drop in the four AA backups or bring it in for a USB top-up.
Does it need mobile signal or a SIM card?
No. The Solaris creates its own local WiFi network, so it works anywhere. You connect your phone to the camera directly when you're standing near it. There's no SIM, no data plan and no monthly fee.
Can I see the footage from home?
Not remotely — you need to be within about 25-30ft. If you want images sent to your phone from anywhere, you need a 4G cellular camera like the Camojojo Trace.
What memory card should I buy?
A branded Class 10 / U3 microSD, 64GB or 128GB, is the sweet spot for 4K. The camera accepts up to 256GB. You can add one to your order above and we'll format it ready to go.
Will the low-glow LEDs spook wildlife?
In our experience, very rarely. Most mammals ignore it entirely. If you're filming a species that's particularly light-shy, or you're worried about the camera being spotted by people, choose a no-glow camera like the Scout Nova instead.
