Stop bringing the camera indoors to charge

If your WildView is earning its keep, you're recharging it more often than you'd like. The Vantage Solar Panel plugs into the base of the camera and trickle-charges the internal battery from daylight — massively extending the gap between charges, and in a good position removing it entirely.

  • Trickle-charges continuously — massively extends time between charges
  • USB-C connection that maintains the camera's weatherproof seal
  • 2m cable so the panel can sit in sun while the camera sits in cover
  • Adjustable bracket mount included — wall or post, with a ball head for angle

Put the panel in the sun, the camera in the shade

This is the point of the 2m cable. The best spot for a wildlife camera is usually shaded, low and tucked into cover. The best spot for a solar panel is high, open and south-facing. The cable lets you have both.

Mount it properly and it'll do the work

The supplied bracket takes a wall or a post and carries an adjustable ball head. Aim the panel south, at roughly 45 degrees, and clear of anything that will shade it in the middle of the day.

Realistic expectation for a British winter: in December and January, daylight levels may not fully keep pace with a busy camera, so an occasional mains top-up can still be needed. From February onwards it should carry the camera on its own.

Compatibility

Designed for the Vantage WildView 3, which charges over USB-C. It is not compatible with the Solaris (which has its own built-in solar roof) or the Scout Nova (which has no external power input).

Frequently asked questions

Will it work with my Scout Nova?
No. The Scout Nova runs on AA cells only and has no external power input, by design — that's why its battery life is measured in months. The panel is for the WildView 3.

Do I still need to charge the camera sometimes?
Through spring, summer and autumn, in a decent position, no. In the darkest weeks of a British winter a busy camera may still need an occasional mains top-up.

Where exactly should I put it?
South-facing, tilted to around 45 degrees, and somewhere nothing shades it between 10am and 3pm. Use the 2m cable to keep the camera itself hidden in cover.
