The right card for a 32GB camera
Plenty of trail cameras cap at 32GB — including our own Vantage Field. Put a larger card in one of those and you get a device that appears to work, then quietly stops writing.
This is the card that matches those cameras, and it's a genuine SanDisk Ultra — Class 10, UHS-I, A1-rated, with SanDisk's own 10-year limited warranty behind it.
- Genuine SanDisk Ultra 32GB — not an unbranded card
- Up to 120MB/s read speed, Class 10 UHS-I
- A1 rated — 1500 read IOPS, 500 write IOPS, so the camera writes without stalling
- Rated from -25°C to 85°C — built for a camera left out all winter
- 10-year SanDisk limited warranty
Why the speed class matters on a trail camera
This is the spec nobody mentions and everybody should. When your camera fires a burst or records video, it has to write that data faster than it arrives. A slow card can't keep up, so the camera drops frames, truncates the clip, or freezes mid-write.
Class 10 and the A1 rating are what stop that happening. A1 in particular guarantees sustained random write performance — which is exactly the workload a trail camera generates. It's the difference between a clean twenty-second clip and three stuttering seconds of the animal already leaving.
Format it in the camera, every time
Always format the card in the camera before first use — not on your computer, and not by deleting the files. It takes ten seconds from the camera's menu and it prevents the single most common cause of a failed deployment: a file system the camera doesn't quite agree with.
Do the same each time you empty it.
Buy two
The practical habit: keep a second card in your pocket. You arrive, swap the full card for the empty one, and walk away in thirty seconds instead of standing in the rain waiting for a download. The camera is disturbed for less time, and you review the footage somewhere warm.
Bigger is not better here
It's tempting to buy the largest card you can. Don't. If the camera is rated to 32GB, a 64GB card is not a bonus — it's a fault waiting to happen. Some cameras reject it outright, which is the good outcome; others accept it, write for a while, then corrupt.
Check your camera's stated maximum and match it. If it accepts more, the 64GB card gives you longer between visits.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a genuine SanDisk card?
Yes. It is genuine SanDisk Ultra stock and carries SanDisk's own 10-year limited warranty. We say so plainly because the memory card market is full of counterfeits, and a fake card is the fastest way to lose a season of footage.
Will it fit my camera?
If your camera takes a microSD card and is rated to 32GB or above, yes. Check the manual for the maximum capacity — exceeding a camera's limit is a common cause of a card that seems to work and then fails.
Do I need to format it first?
Yes, and in the camera rather than on a computer. Ten seconds from the camera menu, and it prevents most card problems before they start.
What does A1 actually mean?
It's a minimum guaranteed random read/write performance — 1500 read IOPS and 500 write IOPS. In plain terms, the card keeps up when the camera writes in bursts, which is exactly what a trail camera does.
Will it survive being left outside all winter?
The card is rated from -25°C to 85°C, well beyond anything a British winter produces inside a sealed camera housing.
